High scores

Your final score in a finished game, after leftover tiles are counted.

How to play

  • Everyone has 7 tiles. On your turn, place tiles in one row or one column so they make a word reading across or down, joined to the tiles already on the board (crossword style).
  • The first word must cover the centre ★. Every word your tiles make, including ones running the other way, must be in the word list.
  • Your score is the letter values added up. DL/TL double/triple one letter, DW/TW double/triple the whole word. Bonus squares only count on the turn they're covered.
  • Use all 7 tiles in one turn for a 50 point bingo. The two blank tiles can be any letter but score nothing.
  • Instead of playing you can swap tiles with the bag (when 7 or more are left) or pass.
  • The game ends when someone uses their last tile with the bag empty (they gain everyone's leftover tiles; the others lose theirs), or after six scoreless turns in a row (eight with four players).

Computer players

Easy plays everyday words of up to five tiles and rarely its best move. Medium knows more words and usually finds a good move. Hard knows the whole standard list, plays for points and keeps good tiles for later. The list also accepts about 87,000 rarer words (dialect, old and regional words) that you can play but the computer players never use.
